Mineral Engineering Technical Services Pty Ltd is a medium sized group of consulting engineers. We work on various gold, base metals and industrial minerals projects both locally and abroad. METS is a participating organisation with Engineers Australia's professional development program. This provides graduate and young engineers an opportunity to attain their chartered engineering status (CPEng) which is an internationally recognised professional standard in the industry. Participants learn through their work experience and careful guidance and coaching from METS mentors, then report back to IEA regularly via written career episode reports. The program offers a choice of elective units in addition to three core units of Engineering Practice, Engineering Planning & Design and Self Management in the Engineering Workplace.  

 

Teamwork & Exposure

Graduate

METS has an organisational structure with seniors, project engineers, engineers and graduates so as to provide a mentor and supervision to all new and junior staff. METS provides an opportunity for young engineers to be mentored by published metallurgical industry leaders and world experts on process technology. With a strong senior team METS provides training courses to industry and encourages staff to attend these and METS monthly information evenings to grow their own knowledge base. As the role of a consultant is varied, METS is often called upon to do many different tasks across a range of metals and minerals depending on the requests and needs of the client and their specific project. If you look at METS recent projects page you will see the kind of work undertaken and staff involvement is in every aspect of these jobs. METS regularly collates staff into varying multidisciplinary project teams depending on the scope of the project and this provides opportunities for METS employees to work and learn from a number of people within the organisation.
