Introduction

Crushing and grinding processes are required for all mineral processing plants ahead of further processing to allow transportation and liberation of valuable minerals from the gangue. Because, ore hardness and characteristics are highly variable, the choice of equipment, correct application and laboratory testing to determine the ore characteristics is imperative. This course discusses the application of unit operations and developing process flowsheets. The importance of control of dust, maintenance issues and typical process control applications in crushing plants are also covered.

With the increasing demand of fine and ultrafine particles, in mineral processing, manufacturers have developed a variety of equipment to suit different requirements. This modern technology provides power and energy efficiency at high throughput with a low cost. This course will cover advanced technologies that have been introduced in recent years as well as lay a solid foundation for an understanding of crushing and grinding circuits in resource projects.

Course Benefit

The attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of crushing and grinding processes, equipment and process flowsheets. The course is designed to cover topics including plant design and layout, comminution testwork, screen types, crushers and mill selection.

A number of case studies are presented in this course including the analysis of proposed circuits. Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss issues and their own experience.

Participants are provided with comprehensive course notes & a CD covering the basic theoretical and practical aspects of crushing and grinding. This will serve as a valuable resource for later reference.
