Introduction

training_mettest.jpgFlotation technology has been the most significant innovation developed in Broken Hill since 1901. It is now the most widely used concentration method in mineral processing for many ores.

The Flotation Course provides a concise overview of the historical development of flotation. An introduction of flotation fundamentals as well as flotation techniques is also included. Various types of chemical reagents for flotation are considered. The course includes comprehensive information on flotation devices, machines and circuits including regrind circuits and flash flotation. Laboratory flotation testwork is also highlighted with testwork procedures and interpretation of results. The course has an emphasis on sulfide flotation and non sulfide flotation. Interesting case studies are included in order to illustrate the application of flotation processes.

Course Benefits

The METS Flotation Course provides a comprehensive understanding of the flotation process and its application to a number of ores. Participants will gain an in-depth knowledge of flotation reagent characteristics, equipment and circuits.

This course also provides an understanding of the fundamental principles and unit processes and an appreciation of recent flotation innovations. Participants will gain an appreciation of the physical and practical principles of flotation. The flotation case studies represent up-to-date technology and best practice in the global mining industry.

Participants are provided with comprehensive course notes on CD covering the basic theoretical and practical aspects of flotation. This will serve as a valuable resource for later reference.
