Introduction Heap Leaching was first implemented in the 1970’s for the recovery of precious metal from low-grade ores. Since then, it has become a significant hydrometallurgical technique, in conjunction with solvent extraction and electrowinning, for the recovery of base metals. However, it is increasingly apparent that the successful application of heap leaching technology will ultimately depend on having a complete understanding of the fundamental processes underlying it. Heap Leaching is gaining popularity due to its economical advantages. For this reason, METS has design a Heap Leaching Course to facilitate the adoption of the technique by the mineral processing industry. METS counts an impressive number of successful heap leaching projects to its name and is now sharing this acquired knowledge via this unique course. Course Benefits After completing this one day course, participants should be able to make well informed decision for gearing heap leaching projects. The practical nature of the course will ensure that participants gain sufficient understanding of this extractive hydrometallurgy technique to operate an industrial scale heap leaching plant. The course assumes no prior knowledge and will provide a well-rounded understanding whatever the background of participants. Lead Presenters Damian Connelly - Director/Principal Consulting Engineer Mineral Engineering Technical Services Damian has over 40 years' experience as a Consulting Metallurgist. He has extensive experience in the gold, copper, lead, zinc, uranium and iron ore industries. His field of expertise lies in plant operations, feasibility studies, detailed design, and commissioning. He has been involved in many projects including engineering, audit, due diligence, tenders and expert witness work. METS training courses have been run both in Australia and overseas, and are highly regarded. Feedback on Damian Connelly “Great speaker” “Very obvious expertise” “Information conveyed in an understandable manner” Who Should Attend? The course is designed to instil key knowledge of the Resource Sector to mining executives, project managers, geologist, senior mine and processing plant operating staff, engineers and researchers. The course can also benefit training providers, suppliers to resource industry, technologists, accountants, brokers and investors. The course assumes no prior knowledge and will treat the subjects in sufficient detail to provide a very good understanding of Heap Leaching. Course Programme - Introduction
