Introduction

training_sensible.jpg

As business becomes tougher businesses need to continue to reduce their costs and do more with less.

Only 25% of new resource projects come in under or on budget. Particularly CAPEX costs prove difficult to achieve for resource projects. A number of resource projects have failed because of aggressive plant CAPEX cost cutting resulting in projects with no surge and unable to achieve design throughput. In some cases the plants are not operable because of the omissions.

In recent times many businesses have also experienced the "costs" of simply implementing aggressive operating "cost cutting” measures as a strategy for solving business performance problems. Many organisations used an incremental approach based on the use of past budget information as an integral part of the budget construction process.

This course looks at strategies to manage these in a sensible way.

Course Benefits

The benefits of attending a course are numerous. At the end of the course, participants will be able to finish cost cutting processes, which include,
  • Clearly identify programmatic objectives that are aligned with the mission and strategic plan
  • Determine the financial resources needed and available to achieve program goals
  • Customize the process
  • Improve accuracy of information and commitment to your organisations
  • Develop sensitivity analysis for the plan
  • Identify the good and bad practices in managing the budget process in your organisations
Participants are provided with comprehensive course notes on CD covering the basic theoretical and practical aspects of sensible cost cutting course. This will serve as a valuable resource for later reference. The course assumes no prior knowledge and will treat the subjects in sufficient detail to provide a very good understanding of sensible cost cutting.
